On Friday, October 11th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Pakistan issued a statement denying all reports about Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan’s trip to Tehran and Riyadh as an effort to ease increasing tensions between the Khomeinist regime and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Last week, several Pakistani and Indian media outlets reported on the Pakistan PM Imran Khan’s upcoming trip to Iran and Saudi Arabia.

One Islamabad news source refers to an unnamed Pakistani sources, who describes the trip as a secret visit that was arranged following Imran Khan’s meeting with US President Donald Trump and Hassan Rouhani on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York, in late September. The U.S. President however has said that Pakistan’s Prime Minister approached him regarding this, as a personal initiative and Pakistan’s sustained efforts to make Islamabad’s case as seriously committed to negotiate a deal between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
